Designing a Future in Luxury Pools - Trainee Designer Qualifies

Trainee pool designer, Jason Beirne, is the proud owner of a City & Guilds Level 3 Award in 3D Computer Aided Design from Guildford College.  This gives him professional qualifications alongside his apprenticeship in pool design at London Swimming Pool Company (LSPC).

Jason, who was recently featured in "The i" Newspaper’s Shift column talking about his career said that he’s thrilled to have gained his 3D CAD award, “The technical qualification complements the on-the-job training and mentoring I receive from the senior designers.  My CAD skills enable me to be creative, to master complex pool designs quickly and make a real contribution to the team.”

Jason started his career at LSPC as a pool and spa servicing engineer but seeing the designers at work he got the bug for design.  LSPC has a strong ethos of developing staff who want to learn new skills, so Jason was able to transfer to the Contracting Division and start an apprenticeship under the tutelage of the senior designer.  He then signed up for part-time study to gain his CAD qualification.

“It’s been a whirlwind”, said Jason, “but I’ve relished every new challenge, from presenting creative pool designs to architects and clients to sourcing the tiniest component that was vital to engineer the pool in the way needed.  Every day is different and brings new opportunities.”
