Fall in love with our pool: Valentine's Day pool party

Although Valentine’s Day has been a celebration of love for over two centuries, in recent decades our displays of affection have grown more and more elaborate. People aren’t content with a well-meaning card any more. There are hundreds of gift ideas to be found online and most retailers have some tempting Valentine’s Day offering.

However, indoor pool owners can do something far more romantic beyond confectionary, flowers or gimmicky gifts. They can have a Valentine’s Day pool party! And there’s just about time to get one organised before the big day.

The first step - service your pool: If you want to throw a great Valentine’s Day pool party - whether for a special someone or for friends, the best place to start is with professional pool service. Your pool engineer will leave no stone unturned; they will check every part of your pool to ensure that it is all in proper working order. That means the pool water will be at its cleanest and ready to cope with the extra bodies. Servicing also includes testing chemical levels as well as checking the filters and pumps.

Likewise, if you’ve hosted a pool party you may want to consider an extra service afterwards, to rejuvenate your pool after a busy time.

Heating the pool: If you’re going to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a pool party, particularly if your pool is outdoors, you had better get the temperature right. There’s nothing like a freezing cold dip to quash any amorous feelings! Getting your pool up to temperature in February a prove challenging, depending on the weather. Make sure to get this issue sorted before the big day so you all aren’t blowing kisses through chattering teeth.

Observing safety around the pool: Don’t let the romance of the day, take your mind off safety it’s imperative, especially if children are attending the party to swim safely. For example, ensure there are no slip trips leading up to the pool, that there is good lighting around the pool, that all inflatable pool toys and games are in good working order, and don’t eat or drink when you’re in the pool.

Pool decorations: A Valentine’s Day Pool Party wouldn’t be complete without the right decorations and pool equipment. Thanks to this day’s massive popularity, there are all manner of love-themed pool toys you can buy. Additionally, you could scatter rose petals across the surface of the water (remember, you or your service engineer will need to remove these afterwards). If you’re interested in a more permanent change, you could install colour-changing LED lights in your pool and switch them to red and give your pool the most romantic appearance possible!
