Switch between a luxury pool and living space in eight minutes

Choosing to install a swimming pool on your property is a big decision. It allows you and your family to take a swim whenever you want, in the privacy of your own home. The only problem left is figuring out where to fit the pool on your property.

A pool is an excellent asset for luxury properties, usually boosting their value. However, the loss of house space is a common concern for prospective pool owners. The pool itself isn’t the only issue; would-be pool builders need to find space for a plant room, as well to recycle and clean the water.

The solution is simple: moving floors. A pool built with a moving floor allows owners to have their cake and eat it. It means being able to build without having to make painful compromises on space and location. The moving floor means owners can customise the depth of the pool on demand, to meet the exact swimming needs of whoever is using it. Different members of the family prefer different depths, from paddling pool to full-size.

When activated, the floor ‘rises’ to the surface and obscures the pool entirely. This is made possible by a buoyant steel structure at the base of the pool. When activated via a control panel, the base of the pool rises and becomes a solid floor once again. This vertical transition takes around 8 minutes, the water seamlessly ‘disappearing’ below. No longer will pool owners have to sacrifice living space for their pool dreams.

A pool with a moving floor can be installed both indoors and outdoors in any size or shape, meaning that the possibilities for re-utilising the space are endless. What had been a swimming pool just moments before can now be a dining area, a home cinema, or even a fitness studio. It doesn’t end there, either - the flooring is completely customisable, robust, and weatherproof. It can also be decorated with any tiling or finish to ensure it matches the rest of the pool room. When not in use, no one would know a pool was even there.

The versatility of a moveable floor makes this type of swimming pool particularly well-suited to properties where space is at a premium. This includes houses or even some apartments in central London, but the beauty of it is that these pools could be fitted almost anywhere.

The only downside is that retrofitting an existing pool can be difficult. It’s not impossible since you can install a moving floor in your existing room. However, it requires extra room for the vital parts to operate the floor. This can make it an expensive prospect.
