Movable Floor Pools

What is a movable floor pool?

It is a swimming pool that is designed and built with a floor at the base of the pool. Many people want a luxury pool without permanently sacrificing space for the pool. When the movable floor is activated, it rises to the top of the pool, covering the water with a solid floor. Using a control panel, clients pre-set the depth of water for swimming. They can adjust the floor level to any depth to accommodate different bathers' requirements, for example, a shallow depth for children to paddle.

Who buys a movable floor pool?

Anyone who wants to reclaim the pool space for different social activities - from an exercise space to a party space.

Do you make the movable floor?

We design and build pools with moving floors; however, we are not manufacturers of movable floors. LSPC works with specialist manufacturers of movable floors.

How much time does a movable floor take to reach the top of the pool?

Typically, the floors can rise to the top of the pool and securely close off the pool in 6 to 8 minutes.

Where does the water go when the movable floor is raised?

The pool water is held securely beneath the movable floor.

Is there a limit to how many times a day you can raise and lower the movable floor?

No. You can raise and lower the pool floor whenever you wish.

How much room is required for the movable floor?

Movable floor pools can be built to almost any size required. Depending on the size, the pool structure will need to be between 400mm and 900mm deeper than the swimming depth to accommodate the floatation tanks and operating mechanisms.

Can you retrofit a movable floor into an existing pool?

Retrofitting a movable floor into an existing pool would require major modifications on the pool so we do not recommend this. Clients should incorporate a moving floor when they are planning the design of a new pool.

What weight can the raised floor take?

The load capacity at the surface level is 350 kg/m2.

Can you have a movable floor on an outdoor pool?

Yes. An outdoor moving floor pool provides the same space-saving benefits as an indoor pool, for example, providing a terrace for socialising when the floor is raised and the pool is closed off.
