The key elements in air-handling systems for pool environmental control include dehumidification, ventilation, air-quality, air-heating and pool water heating. However, in today's environmentally conscious society, responsible pool designers, architects and installers have to find the most energy efficient ways to manage and control the pool hall environment. In fact, new building control regulations lay down strict guidelines for energy efficiency in swimming pool applications - saving the planet and reducing the client's energy costs.

For nearly 40 years Heatstar has pioneered the innovation, design and development of modern, highly efficient environmental control systems for swimming pools. A flag-bearer for energy-efficiency, Heatstar, as the market leader, continues to play a huge part in making swimming pools role models for energy savings and reduced carbon emissions.

Every unit Heatstar manufactures is tailored to the precise individual requirements of the application. This obviates the need to under or oversize performance aspects or tolerate inappropriate, equipment room layout, as can be the case with 'off the shelf' products.

By offering a dedicated range of flexible systems, Heatstar is able to cater from the smallest spa to large leisure facilities, municipal pools and everything in-between.

Heatstar only manufactures dedicated equipment for swimming pools and all products are designed and manufactured exclusively in the United Kingdom. Heatstar does not manufacture any aspect of its products in the Far East or Eastern Europe.

Heatstar Phoenix EC - designed for high specification indoor pools with wellness features (spa, sauna, steamroom)

The Phoenix EC represents the optimum and uncompromised environmental control solution for the highest specification indoor swimming pools. The Phoenix EC is able to outperform alternative equipment by combining three different technologies to achieve unrivalled performance.

'BLUE-EC' ON-DEMAND FAN TECHNOLOGY The most energy efficient fans on the market. In addition, these digital fans utilise ‘auto-fan’ technology, whereby the speed and power of the air recirculation fan is managed automatically to enable significant energy savings whenever there is low demand for dehumidification or air heating. This provides the lowest operating cost of any such system.

CROSS FLOW RECUPERATOR - The recuperator passively conducts heat from the exhausted pool room air via a series of adjoining plates directly to the incoming colder fresh air. This process, in combination with the dehumidification heat pump, produces unrivalled levels of heat recovery.

DEHUMIDIFICATION HEAT PUMP - Creates a cold evaporator coil to condense the moisture present in the air to reduce humidity levels. Through this process the heat pump absorbs both latent and sensible energy which is upgraded and recycled back into both the pool room air and pool water. Efficiencies of over 380% are possible through this process.

Heatstar Taurus EC for Commercial Leisure areas (hotel/municipal) that contain pool and wellness facilities

A dedicated range of very high capacity systems to provide efficient and effective environmental control for large water leisure centres or municipal swimming pools. Offering all the available energy saving technologies and fully compliant with the latest building control regulations for non-residential applications, the Taurus system can be tailored by the specifier to incorporate preferred technologies and features.

Heatstar XF EC with built in features to enhance basement pools

Centred upon a high efficiency 'Cross Flow' plate air-to-air heat recuperator, the XF utilises fresh air introduction to provide natural dehumidification and utilises the recuperator to maximise heat extraction from the expelled room air, making it the ideal choice for a basement pool which has a lack of natural fresh air ventilation. For more information about the XF EC visit the Heatstar website.

Heatstar Hydrus AC for pools with a moving floor

Specially conceived to meet the markedly opposing environmental control demands of a multi-use pool room when in different modes of use.

The Hydrus AC has the capability to tackle the strenuous demands of a high temperature and moisture laden swimming pool room environment, whilst maintaining excellent energy efficiency, but also features in-built facilities necessary to accommodate an entirely different environment requirement for the room, suitable for functions, parties and many other uses. For more information about the Hydrus AC visit the Heatstar website.

Heatstar Andromeda EC for pools built on floors above basement level

Centred upon a dehumidifying heat pump and utilising the latest ‘Blue-EC’, ultra efficient, intelligent digital inverter fan technology, the Andromeda EC offers an assured solution for both effective and efficient environmental control for residential indoor swimming pools. By combining both of these technologies the Andromeda EC is able to offer highly effective environmental control with minimal energy use.

Calorex Variheat Series 3 saves pounds

Variheat controls the operation of the heat source such as a Calorex heat pump or a boiler and combines it with a highly efficient heat pump dehumidifier to provide air and water heating, humidity control, ventilation and energy recovery.

In contrast to most buildings, indoor swimming pools constantly evaporate large volumes of moisture into the space around them. Unless this moisture is removed, humidity will rise creating an uncomfortable environment and structural/fabric damage. Totally self-controlling, the Variheat will remove this moisture and recover energy from it which is then re-used to assist water and air

heating. By utilising this method, a heat cycle is created and energy costs are kept to a minimum.

Typically, for every unit of power that a Calorex Variheat consumes, it will convert more than twice this amount to usable heat. The potential energy savings are huge. In fact, compared to traditional heat and ventilation, considerable energy cost saving can be made and corresponding CO² emissions can be dramatically reduced.
