Subterranean Swimming Pool

Holland Park, London

An immensely challenging subterranean pool installation due to the very confined space where the pool had to be constructed. Added to this, there was no access to the rear of the property, so the soil from the excavation had to be transported through the house and once the pool was installed, the garden was re-laid above it.

Space restrictions prevented the construction of a single plantroom, so the pump and deep bed filter were housed at the far end of the pool to one side and the balance equipment to the other with a connecting service duct in between to accommodate all water and air flow.

Large grey slate tiles were used throughout, including the interior pool finishes, coupled with a strong blue LED lighting system in the ceiling. All pool surround pipework was covered in concrete foam to conserve energy. A handheld remote, which controls all equipment, was supplied.
