Pool and Saunarium for Novotel London - Canary Wharf
The spa experience is an essential offering for luxury hotels and the Novotel London Canary Wharf Hotel, which boasts spectacular views across the London skyline, commissioned London Swimming Pool Company (LSPC) to complete this sumptuous swimming pool and a saunarium which provides both a sauna and steam room in one. These facilities are accompanied by a gym and provide the hotel’s wide spectrum of clients with all they need to exercise, relax and pamper themselves during their stay.

Built on the ground floor, rather than the basement, to create an airy ambience, the rectangular concrete pool shell had already been formed by the main contractor. LSPC then completed all other aspects of the pool including the tiling and the plantroom which involved devising ingenious pipework that was run from the pool shell into the plantroom without disrupting the previously constructed shell!
The contemporary level-deck pool is 10 metres long x 5 metres wide and 1.5m deep. The pool is finished in aqua blue porcelain tiles; it has a bespoke stainless steel handrail and a counter current unit which allows bathers to swim against ‘the tide’ providing exhilarating exercise. The pièce de résistance is the pool’s feature wall which incorporates two waterfalls that cascade water into the pool, treating bathers to soothing showers. The pool surround, which was supplied by the main contractor, is made of 150 mm x 150 mm Porcelain tiles that resemble natural wood.
The ‘magical’ pool hall features cool grey/white walls, ceiling and colonnades; a charming leaf motif design along two walls plus an eye-catching light display on the wall at the end of the pool and on the ceiling. These cast strips of light on the pool water and complement the Eva Optic underwater pool lighting.
