Coolest New Pool Gadgets and Toys
If you’re going to really make the most of your pool, be it outdoor or indoor, you can invest in a few pool gadgets. From tools that automatically clean your pool to toys, games and novelty inflatables, we’ve amassed a few of the less conventional gadgets and gizmos that will keep you entertained all summer.
The Floating Bar – Soft Drinks All Round!
Nothing says cool sophistication like a floating tiki bar! Well, maybe we’re pushing the inflatable boat out a little there, but a gloriously functional floating bar will certainly turn heads at your next pool party. Complete with drink holders, ice storage bins and a canopy (to keep the bar staff dry, of course), if you’ve always wanted a poolside bar but are not prepared to truly splash out (pun very much intended) then this is certainly a more affordable option.
If the floating pool bar seems a little extravagant, then this might be the perfect compromise. You’ll find countless variations online if care to surf the net, many of which feature drink holders and ice boxes.
And of course, when we talk about pool bars, we refer only to soft drinks – it is never safe to consume alcoholic beverages in or around a swimming pool; always play safely!
Inflatable Movie Screen
What could possibly upstage a floating bar? A floating cinema of course! A fully functioning air-blown screen that can be used to host a unique movie night (it could even be hooked up to a games console if desired), an inflatable screen is not only incredibly easy to set up and put away but even includes a detachable screen.
Cleaning Robot Dolphin
Owning a pool is wonderful, cleaning a pool is certainly not. So, why not let robotic pool cleaner do the work in between your professional pool servicing visits? Like an aquatic version of a Roomba (only much more efficient), these automatic cleaners can give your pool an incredibly deep clean. There are also a variety of models to choose from for all budgets and all pool sizes, with some of the more advanced models offering Bluetooth access so you can control your robot pal from the comfort of your own smartphone.
A rechargeable, submersible hose-less vacuum is the perfect purchase for pool owners who want to remove debris from their pool walls and floors without ‘going full robot’. For the surface, there’s also the option of a remote-controlled skimmer, which is essentially a tiny boat that automatically picks up leaves and bugs. Again, a good tool in between your service engineer’s visits.
There are a surprising number of sports that can be enjoyed in the pool. From the classic water volleyball to water polo and even water basketball - there’s no denying the appeal of ‘shooting hoop’ in the pool. For those that have already experienced the many traditional pool sports, there are other avenues to explore. Blue Wave Aqua Golf, for example, is a bonafide floating game of mini golf or you could try the Watermelon Ball which combines elements of football, basketball, and rugby in the water.
This is a hyper-realistic, laser-printed bucking bronco that swaps the classic mechanical structure for a more portable, water-friendly system that mimics the classic land-based party game.
Starfighter Super Squirter
Have young kids who dream of being a space fighter pilot? The Starfighter Super Squirter allows children to live out those dreams from the safety of their own pool. A giant floating pod with self-filling water pistol attached, if you want to liven summer party season, consider buying this incredible pool toy and hosting some epic intergalactic battles.
Finally, there can be no pool party without music and in recent years we have seen a bevy of waterproof Bluetooth speaker solutions hit the market. Some are even designed to operate underwater. If your pool was not fitted with an underwater speaker system when it was built these are a good option. Just try not to play anything too loud to keep neighbourly peace!
